Poly(<i>N</i>‐isopropylacrylamide)‐Based Polymers: Recent Overview for the Development of Temperature‐Responsive Drug Delivery and Biomedical Applications

Abstract Temperature is a widely incorporated stimulus in pharmaceutical applications because of its efficiency as therapeutic medium; thus, substantial evidence on temperature‐responsive polymer reported. Poly( N ‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) well‐established, that exhibits low critical solution temperature (LCST) at ≈ 32°C, which close to physiological temperature. Hence, they are used various applications, such drug delivery with nanocarriers and thermogels. Varying the LCST for different can be achieved by copolymerization other hydrophobic or hydrophilic molecules, making it favorable smart polymer. PNIPAAm reported enhance incorporation facilitate prolonged delivery, thereby avoiding burst release drugs hydrogels. The application not limited also applied biomedical chromatography systems cell culture where media enhances production. unique versatile properties render promising functional applications. this review focuses diverse PNIPAAm.
