Poly(ester‐anhydrides) with controlled molecular weight and structure

We report on the synthesis of a series poly(ester-anhydride) composed following dicarboxylic acids: adipic, suberic, sebacic, dodecanedioic acids; and hydroxyalkanoic ricinoleic 12-hydroxystearic acid with control molecular weight approaching from new method in which well-defined ester monomers are first synthesized by stepwise addition acids molecules into melted acids. The key advantage this modified is full consumption hydroxy devoid any self-condensation. then activated using variable amounts acetic anhydride followed melt condensation polymerization. weights highly controllable depending upon degree activation monomers; hence amount anhydride. All poly(ester-anhydrides) thoroughly characterized 1H NMR, Fourier transform infrared, gel permeation chromatography.
