Polya urn model-based performance assessment of PSC bridges: prestress loss consideration

Abstract A methodology for performance assessment of prestressed concrete (PSC) girder bridge system, based on strain monitoring in limited number girders, is proposed this paper. The uses Polya urn model determining probabilities the system being different condition states with respect to loss prestress. Performability measure used describing system. state assigned from a predefined set states. time detailed inspection determined as instant at which performability becomes less than target/required level. Performance one hundred PSC girders considered illustrating methodology. obtained values and scenarios (i.e., monitored prestress exceeding allowable value) suggest that able consider value available information.
