Pollinators communities differ across years and crops

چکیده
Insect pollination is one of the most important ecosystem services. Pollinator communities are rarely studied across years and crops in same location. The aim this study was to investigate pollinator community structure on five different fruit crops, as well activity groups during day their temperature preferences. observed two apple trees blueberry, strawberry, blackcurrant raspberry bushes. varied by plant year. Honeybees were numerous pollinators all plants except blueberry bushes (39–95% visits). Bumblebee numbers high (up 28%) 61%). Solitary bees visited blueberries. Honeybees, solitary bees, hoverflies active middle day, while bumblebees became earlier morning remained later evening. Pollinators also differed greatly This knowledge gained necessary for less harmful pesticide application management development more sustainable agriculture maintain diversity thus reliable extreme weather conditions.

Anther evolution: pollen presentation strategies when pollinators differ.
Male-male competition in plants is thought to exert selection on flower morphology and on the temporal presentation of pollen. Theory suggests that a plant's pollen dosing strategy should evolve to match the abundance and pollen transfer efficiency of its pollinators. Simultaneous pollen presentation should be favored when pollinators are infrequent or efficient at delivering the pollen they re...
متن کاملSolitary Bees as Alternative Pollinators of Pennsylvania Fruit Crops
Introduction Pollination is a pivotal, keystone process in almost all terrestrial ecosystem food webs: it supports global and sustainable productivity in agriculture and forestry, and maintains the biodiversity of plant and animal life. Bees are the most important pollinators, but bee declines in abundance and species richness have been documented on 4 continents. Almost 100 crop species in the...
متن کاملEFFECT OF BEES-POLLINATORS IN BUCKWHEAT (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench) CROPS
The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of bee pollination of buckwheat crops on the seed productivity and plant development. Six plots each 4 m2 in size were arranged in a buckwheat field. Four plots in the field were isolated by a net. Nucs with bees were placed in two of the plots (one per plot). Plant productivity, height of plants and number of branches per marked plant...
متن کاملImportance of pollinators in changing landscapes for world crops.
The extent of our reliance on animal pollination for world crop production for human food has not previously been evaluated and the previous estimates for countries or continents have seldom used primary data. In this review, we expand the previous estimates using novel primary data from 200 countries and found that fruit, vegetable or seed production from 87 of the leading global food crops is...
متن کاملPhylogenetic patterns differ for native and exotic plant communities across a richness gradient in Northern California
The assembly of local communities is the result of the tension between local, often negative, and possibly deterministic interactions, and larger-scale environmental or dispersal constraints or stochastic events (Berlow, 1997; Levine, 2000; Lovette & Hochachka, 2006). Larger-scale environmental conditions and dispersal limitation filter a larger pool of potential colonists into one that include...
