چکیده

To evaluate clinical and functional results of isolated repairs meniscal tears with intact cruciate ligaments. The hypothesis was that medial were associated higher failure rate than lateral meniscus repairs. A retrospective analysis prospectively collected data performed on patients who underwent primary repair in a stable knee between 2008 2018 minimum follow-up 2 years. At the final follow-up, recurrent tear, reoperations patient-reported outcomes determined including return to sports, Tegner activity scale, Lysholm score, Western Ontario Meniscal Evaluation Tool (WOMET) International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) subjective evaluation form injury Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) score. Comparison of Medial and Lateral Meniscus Root Tears

The meniscus root plays an essential role in maintaining the circumferential hoop tension and preventing meniscal displacement. Studies on meniscus root tears have investigated the relationship of osteoarthritis and an anterior cruciate ligament tear. However, few studies have directly compared the medial and lateral root tears. To assess the prevalence of meniscal extrusion and its relationshi...

Ipsilateral Medial and Lateral Discoid Meniscus with Medial Meniscus Tear

INTRODUCTION Discoid meniscus is a well-documented knee pathology, and there are many cases of medial or lateral discoid meniscus reported in the literature. However, ipsilateral concurrent medial and lateral discoid meniscus is very rare, and only a few cases have been reported. Herein, we report a case of concurrent medial and lateral discoid meniscus. CASE REPORT A 27-year-old Japanese man...

Characteristics of Radial Tears in the Posterior Horn of the Medial Meniscus Compared to Horizontal Tears

BACKGROUND The clinical and radiologic features of radial tears of the medial meniscus posterior horn were compared with those of horizontal tears. METHODS From January 2007 to December 2008, 387 consecutive cases of medial meniscal tears were treated arthroscopically. Among these, 91 were radial tears in the medial meniscus posterior horn, and 95 were horizontal tears in the posterior segmen...

Vertical Tears of the Lateral Meniscus

Background: Lateral meniscal tears are often seen with acute anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and may be left in situ, repaired, or treated with meniscectomy. Clinical studies have shown good outcomes with vertical tears left in situ and poor outcomes following meniscectomy. However, clinically relevant studies are needed to establish a biomechanical foundation for treatment of these tea...

Footballer's Lateral Meniscus: Anterior Horn Tears of the Lateral Meniscus with a Stable Knee

This paper aimed to identify the characteristics of isolated anterior horn tear of the lateral meniscus in footballers who underwent arthroscopic surgery. We identified 8 patients with stable knee and no ligament injury, who had only isolated anterior horn tear of the lateral meniscus between 2007 and 2009. All 8 patients were footballers, comprising 7 men and 1 woman with mean age of 18.6 year...
