چکیده

Hemochromatosis is a relatively rare genetic disease that results in restrictive cardiomyopathy caused by the deposition of iron. Iron has higher affinity to deposit conduction system heart resulting lower threshold for developing arrhythmias. We sought assess data on burden arrhythmias hospitalized patients with hemochromatosis. To study impact arrythmia special cohort i.e. adults hemochromatosis The national inpatient sample (NIS) from 2018-2020 was queried adult (age>18 yrs) admitted secondary diagnosis These were stratified [atrial fibrillation (AF), atrial flutters, SVTs, blocks (first degree, second complete [CHB], ventricular tachycardia (VT), and fibrillation(VF)]. Baseline risk factors cardiac complications compared. Multiple regression analysis performed using mortality as primary outcome. Results further validated propensity-matched analysis. A total 141755 had mean age 55 years. Of these, 33.84% females 16.59% an underlying arrhythmia. In hemochromatosis, concurrent prevalence diabetes mellitus (27.67% vs 18.55%; P<0.0001), hyperlipidemia (41.08% 22.83%; P<0.0002), tobacco abuse (30.5% 24.05%; P<0.0001) obesity than those without (14.77% 10.98%; P<0.0001). valvular abnormalities (36.39% 24.55%; old myocardial infarction (6.91% 3.25%; coronary artery (28.06% 10.68%; P< 0.0001) also significantly these patients. Multivariate revealed odds AF, VF, VT (Table 1). Propensity-matched confirmed findings. 2) not significant CHB portends worse outcomes compared it. Arrhythmias should be better managed improve patient outcomes. Further studies are warranted determine pathogenesis develop therapeutics mitigate complications.
