PO-02-093 IMPACT OF ABLATION OUTCOME ON COGNITIVE FUNCTION IN PATIENTS WITH ATRIAL FIBRILLATION

چکیده
Emerging evidences suggest increased risk of all forms dementia in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) even the absence overt stroke. Cerebral hypoperfusion and cerebrovascular micro- macro-embolism are plausible explanations for predisposition cognitive decline AF. We evaluated impact ablation outcome on function AF patients. Consecutive receiving were screened prior to procedure consenting subjects enrolled our COGNITION registry (NCT01816308). Cognitive was assessed using Montreal assessment (MoCA) survey. Patients baseline MoCA score ≤17 excluded from analysis. In this survey, a scale 0-30, 27-30 is considered normal cognition, 18-26 as mild impairment (MCI) ≤ 17 dementia. Post-ablation survey conducted at 1 year. Change 1.7 points clinically significant. Standard institutional protocol followed monitor arrhythmia recurrence quarterly interval during 1-year follow-up period. A total 576 their first catheter registry. At year, 191 (33.1%) experienced (group 1) 385 remained arrhythmia-free off-drugs 2). Baseline characteristics study population given table 1. 20±3.7 group vs 19.2±3.8 2 (p=0.09). follow-up, mean significantly lower (16.05±4.4, p<0.001) higher (21.7±2.4, 2. Mean change -5.08±4.3 2.9±2.6 respectively (p<0.001). series, significant observed following ablation; declined substantially experiencing improved those that arrhythmia-free.

Impact of Alcohol Consumption on the Outcome of Catheter Ablation in Patients With Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation
BACKGROUND Although several studies have reported an association between atrial fibrillation (AF) and alcohol, the impact of alcohol consumption on the outcome after catheter ablation (CA) for AF has not been discussed. We aimed to elucidate the effect of alcohol consumption on the outcome of CA for paroxysmal AF. METHODS AND RESULTS We examined 1361 consecutive patients with paroxysmal AF (m...
متن کاملImpact of Metabolic Syndrome on Ablation-Outcome in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation: A Systematic Review.
Metabolic syndrome (MS), a pro-inflammatory state with hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia and obesity is presumed to be a close associate of atrial fibrillation (AF). However, the exact mechanism by which MS facilitates perpetuation of AF is yet to be fully understood. Moreover, the impact of the components of MS as well as MS as a group, on ablation-outcome in AF is not clearly elucidated un...
متن کاملImpact of atrial remodeling on the outcome of radiofrequency catheter ablation of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.
BACKGROUND Both the left atrial volume index (LAVI) and estimated total atrial conduction time measured using tissue Doppler imaging of the atria (PA-TDI duration) are echocardiographic parameters reflecting atrial remodeling. We investigated their prognostic value for atrial tachyarrhythmia (AF/AT) recurrence after radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF...
متن کاملradiofrequency atrial fibrillation ablation technique in patients with mitral valve surgery and left atrial reduction procedures
background: about half of all patients who undergo mitral valve surgery suffer from atrial fibrillation (af). cox described the surgical cut-and-sew maze procedure, which is an effective surgical method but has some complications. this study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of a substitution method of radiofrequency ablation (rfa) for patients undergoing mitral valve surgery with af. metho...
متن کاملCognitive function and anticoagulation control in patients with atrial fibrillation.
BACKGROUND Patients with atrial fibrillation usually are elderly and may have cognitive dysfunction. These patients may receive less effective oral anticoagulation, resulting in more vascular events and bleeding. METHODS AND RESULTS In an analysis of cognitive function associated with the time in therapeutic range (TTR) in the Atrial Fibrillation Clopidogrel Trial With Irbesartan for Preventi...
