چکیده
Posterior Wall (PW) isolation is an important adjunctive ablation target in patients with non-paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF). Traditionally performed point-by-point radiofrequency ablation, PW can be also achieved different cryoballoon technologies. To assess the feasibility of novel RF balloon catheter and perform a comparison We prospectively enrolled 35 consecutive persistent AF scheduled for first-time Heliostar device. Procedural data were compared those from 100 undergoing pulmonary vein (PV) plus cryoablation The ratio balloon/cryoballoon was 1:3 each operator involved study, aiming at avoiding any imbalance related to experience. Single-shot PV significantly higher number cases technology (92.6% vs 72.5%; p<0.001). similar applications (11±4 versus 11±2 cryoballoon; p=0.36) but significant shorter time among (225±83s 1273±280s Primary safety endpoint occurred none 10 (12.5%; 8 transient phrenic nerve palsies, 1 major groin hematoma, femoral pseudoaneurism) group (p=0.06). efficacy all (100%) 75 (93.7%) Cryoballoon ones (p=0.37). Oesophageal endoscopy did not show signs thermal lesions luminal temperature rise. balloon-based safe promoted procedural times cryoballoon-based procedures.

A new radiofrequency thermal balloon catheter for pulmonary vein isolation.
OBJECTIVES We sought to evaluate whether porcine pulmonary vein (PV) isolation (PVI) can be produced by ablation using our novel radiofrequency (RF) thermal balloon catheter (RBC). BACKGROUND It has been proposed that PVI can prevent focal atrial fibrillation (AF) originating in or close to the PV. METHODS The RBC is composed of a 12F main shaft, a 4F inner tube and a balloon. Inside the ba...
متن کاملFirst-line catheter ablation of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation: outcome of radiofrequency vs. cryoballoon pulmonary vein isolation.
AIMS First-line ablation prior to antiarrhythmic drug (AAD) therapy is an option for symptomatic paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF); however, the optimal ablation technique, radiofrequency (RF), or cryoballoon (CB) has to be determined. METHODS AND RESULTS The FREEZE Cohort Study compares RF and CB ablation. Treatment-naïve patients were documented in the FREEZEplus Registry. Periprocedural...
متن کاملFeasibility of the radiofrequency hot balloon catheter for isolation of the posterior left atrium and pulmonary veins for the treatment of atrial fibrillation.
BACKGROUND Atrial fibrillation originates mostly from the pulmonary vein (PV) foci or non-PV foci in the posterior left atrium (LA). The present study was designed to evaluate the feasibility and safety of a novel radiofrequency hot balloon catheter for the treatment of patients with atrial fibrillation by electrically isolating the posterior LA, including all PVs. METHODS AND RESULTS One hun...
متن کاملa comparison of teachers and supervisors, with respect to teacher efficacy and reflection
supervisors play an undeniable role in training teachers, before starting their professional experience by preparing them, at the initial years of their teaching by checking their work within the proper framework, and later on during their teaching by assessing their progress. but surprisingly, exploring their attributes, professional demands, and qualifications has remained a neglected theme i...

The aim of this study was to compare the results of pulmonary vein isolation using conventional irrigated radiofrequency (RF) approach versus the cryoballoon (CB) ablation. From January 2008 to December 2011, a total of 426 patients with drug-resistant symptomatic paroxysmal atrial fibrillation underwent pulmonary vein isolation as the index procedure by conventional manual RF or CB ablation at...
