Pneumonia: Drug-Related Problems and Hospital Readmissions

Pneumonia is one of the most common infectious diseases and fourth leading cause death globally. According to US statistics in 2019, pneumonia sepsis septic shock. In US, inpatient hospitalizations account for top 10 highest medical costs, totaling $9.5 billion 960,000 hospital stays. The emergence antibiotic resistance treatment diseases, including pneumonia, a globally alarming problem. Antibiotic increases risk re-hospitalization, prolongs stays, greatest threats modern medicine. Drug-related problems (DRPs) - such as suboptimal indications, prolonged duration, drug interactions increase rate adverse effects, thereby an increased burden treatment. context which novel effective antibiotics are scarce, mitigating DRPs order reduce currently prime concern. A variety interventions proven useful reducing stewardship programs, use biomarkers, computerized physician entries clinical decision support systems, community-acquired scores.
