PLAQUE CONTROL IN PERIODONTAL DISEASE

چکیده
Introduction: Periodontal disease results from a complex interplay between the subgingival biofilm and host immune-immflamatory events that develop in gingival periodontal response to challenge presented by bacteria. Gingivitis precedes periodontitis. In gingivitis , inflammatory lesion is confined gingiva, however, with periodontits, processes extend additionally affect ligament alveolar bone. Review: The primary cause of inflammattion bacterial plaque. Other predisposing factors include calculus, faulty restoration complication associated orthodontic therapy. Microbial plaque control an effective way treating preventing essential part all procedures involved treatment prevention diseases. Good supragingival has also been shown growth composition so it favors healthier microflora reduces calculus formation. Carefully performed daily home control, combined frequent professionally delivered removal, amount biofilm, decreases total number microorganisms moderately deep pockets, including furcation areas, greatly quantity pathogens. Chemical inhibitors are incoporated mouthwashes or dentifrices play important role controlling microbial biofilms. Conclusion: Daily permits patients assume responsibility for their own oral health every day.

Biological plaque control: novel therapeutic approach to periodontal disease.
Despite its important role in the control of periodontal disease, mechanical plaque control is not properly practiced by most individuals. Therefore, adjunctive chemical plaque control using chlorhexidine and antibiotics has also been suggested as an additional therapeutic strategy to augment mechanical plaque control. However, the additional effects of adjunctive antibiotic therapy are small, ...

Lymphocyte transformation in response to dental plaque antigens has been used to determine the association between cellular immune responses and the periodontal status in man. An in vitro system for lymphocyte transformation was used. Triplicate microcultures of peripheral blood lymphocytes were stimulated with four different concentrations of V. aicalescens, B. melaninogenicus, F. nucleatum, A...

The conventional risk factors for atherosclerosis are well understood, but they can account for only about 50% to 70% of atherosclerotic events in the general population. Many other putative risk factors for atherosclerosis have been proposed, including traits related to obesity, inflammation, and infection. Periodontal disease is a candidate risk factor that shares many of these related traits...
