Plant Growth, Bulb Yield and Quality of Two Onion (Allium cepa L.) Cultivars as Affected by Storage Conditions of Three Set Sizes

The objective of this research was to investigate the effect storage conditions different onion set sizes on plant growth, yield and quality bulb crop. Treatments comprised two cultivars (Kamlin Saggai), (refrigeration at 2-4 ○c room temperature around 32○c) three (large-bulb diameter 2.2-2.7 cm, medium 1.6-2.1cm small 1-1.5 cm). Experimental design split-split plot with replications. Cultivars were in main plots, sub-plots sub-sub plots. Sets stored cold for 8 weeks; other lot kept shade same period. Results indicated that refrigerated sets resulted significantly higher fresh dry weights than storage. Large size gave more vegetative growth size. Response not consistent both seasons growth. Set did affect average weight, total marketable yields, shape index matter.
