Plant Cytoskeleton: DELLA Connects Gibberellins to Microtubules
A new study reveals that DELLA proteins directly interact with the prefoldin complex, thus regulating tubulin subunit availability in a gibberellin-dependent manner. This finding provides a mechanistic link between the growth-promoting plant hormone gibberellin and cortical microtubule organization.
متن کاملCytoskeleton: Microtubules get the signal
Investigations of how the cytoskeleton is controlled by Rho GTPase signaling have focused largely on the remodeling of actin. Recent work in fibroblasts shows that microtubules are also subject to regulation by the Rho pathway, and that the signals acting on actin and microtubules can be teased apart.

The current view of peroxisome inheritance provides for the formation of new peroxisomes by both budding from the endoplasmic reticulum and autonomous division. Here we investigate peroxisome-cytoskeleton interactions and show by proteomics, biochemical and immunofluorescence analyses that actin, non-muscle myosin IIA (NMM IIA), RhoA, Rho kinase II (ROCKII) and Rab8 associate with peroxisomes. ...
متن کاملIntegrators of the Cytoskeleton that Stabilize Microtubules
Sensory neurodegeneration occurs in mice defective in BPAG1, a gene encoding cytoskeletal linker proteins capable of anchoring neuronal intermediate filaments to actin cytoskeleton. While BPAG1 null mice fail to anchor neurofilaments (NFs), BPAG1/NF null mice still degenerate in the absence of NFs. We report a novel neural splice form that lacks the actin-binding domain and instead binds and st...
متن کاملCytoskeleton: Microtubules Born on the Run
The organization of microtubules into large arrays determines cell morphology and structure. Recent work in the fission yeast describes a novel mechanism for microtubule self-organization in the absence of centrosomes; this mechanism may function in a variety of cell types found in diverse organisms.
