Plant and Plant Associated Microflora: Potential Bioremediation Option of Indoor Air Pollutants

نویسندگان

چکیده

Indoor air pollution is a significant problem today because the release of various contaminants into indoor has created major health threat for humans occupying indoors. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are pollutants released environment and persist in atmosphere due to its low boiling point values. Various types activities, sources, exposure outdoor environments enhance VOCs. This poor quality leads adverse negative impacts on people environment. Many physical chemical methods have been developed remove or decompose these compounds from However, those interrupted by many environmental other factors atmosphere, thus limit applications. Therefore, there global need develop an effective, promising, economical, environmentally friendly alternatives problem. The use plant associated microflora significantly impact reducing VOC gases, inorganic particulate matter, contained air. Placing potted plants not only helps but also boost mood, productivity, concentration, creativity occupants reduces stress, fatigue, sore throat, cold. Plants normally uptake through roots leaves, then metabolize, sequestrate, excrete them. Plant-associated microorganisms help degrade, detoxify, sequestrate pollutants, remediation, promote growth. Further studies varieties eco-friendly purifying sources.

Phylloremediation of Air Pollutants: Exploiting the Potential of Plant Leaves and Leaf-Associated Microbes

Air pollution is air contaminated by anthropogenic or naturally occurring substances in high concentrations for a prolonged time, resulting in adverse effects on human comfort and health as well as on ecosystems. Major air pollutants include particulate matters (PMs), ground-level ozone (O3), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxides (NO2), and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). During the last t...

Cardiovascular effects of indoor air pollutants

In the last decades, research on the causes of cardiovascular disease has made great progress. Multiple pharmaceutical and surgical approaches have been devised to prevent, treat, or otherwise manage heart disease, yet it remains the leading cause of death both in Europe and United States. There are important gaps in the understanding the leading causes of cardiovascular disease and the underli...

Allergic reactions to indoor air pollutants.

Inhalation of airborne chemicals can result in allergic sensitization with episodic pulmonary responses occurring on subsequent exposures. Responses may occur in the upper respiratory tract (rhinitis), the lower respiratory tract (wheeze, bronchospasm) or systemically, for example, a febrile response. The mechanisms underlying these responses are not always clear but include production of reagi...
