متن کاملGreen Infrastructure and Planning Policy: a Critical Assessment
Advocates of the green infrastructure (GI) concept claim it offers a progressive planning approach that facilitates synergies between economic growth, environmental conservation and social development. Planning support systems often employ urban models that simulate and evaluate impacts of plans. Their application to plan making is however, challenging when issues transcend local jurisdictions, and model assumptions are contested by the stakeholders. Neglecting the role of such specifications, especially when they are important and uncertain, can diminish the efficacy of plans. In this paper,...

متن کاملRenewed Prospects for Green Infrastructure Planning in the UK
In the early 1970s two significant books were published arguing for a strategic, indeed holistic, approach to landscape planning, one on either side of the Atlantic: in the USA, Ian McHarg’s seminal Design with Nature (1971) and in the UK, Brian Hackett’s lesser known Landscape Planning: Introduction to Theory and Practice (Hackett, 1971). Together they seemed to herald a new era of strategic l...
