Pinning effects in a two-dimensional cluster glass

چکیده

We study numerically the glass formation and depinning transition of a system two-dimensional cluster-forming monodisperse particles in presence pinning disorder. The pairwise interaction potential is nonmonotonic, motivated by intervortex forces type-$1.5$ superconductors. Such systems can form cluster glasses due to interactions following thermal quench, without underlying effects vortex these systems. find that small density centers moderate depth has limited effect on formation, i.e., dominated interactions. At higher densities significantly affect formation. depinning, under constant driving force, found be plastic, with features distinct from non-cluster-forming such as clusters merging breaking. general vortices exhibit stronger than regular vortices.

Random pinning glass model.

Glass transition, in which viscosity of liquids increases dramatically upon decrease of temperature without any major change in structural properties, remains one of the most challenging problems in condensed matter physics despite tremendous research efforts in past decades. On the other hand, disordered freezing of spins in magnetic materials with decreasing temperature, the so-called "spin g...

Glass Transition in a Two-Dimensional Electron System in Silicon

Large fluctuations of conductivity with time are observed in a low-mobility twodimensional electron system in silicon at low electron densities ns and temperatures. A dramatic increase of the noise power (∝ 1/fα) as ns is reduced below a certain density ng, and a sharp jump of α at ns ≈ ng, are attributed to the freezing of the electron glass at ns = ng. The data strongly suggest that glassy dy...

Glass transition in a two-dimensional system of magnetic colloids

We describe experiments on binary mixtures of superparamagnetic colloidal particles confined by gravity to a flat horizontal water-air interface. The colloids repel each other because of their magnetic dipole moments induced by a vertical external magnetic field B. By tuning B, the effective temperature of the system can be adjusted over several orders of magnitude. Particle coordinates are mon...

Nonequilibrium relaxations and aging effects in a two-dimensional Coulomb glass.

The relaxations of conductivity have been studied in the glassy regime of a strongly disordered two-dimensional electron system in Si after a temporary change of carrier density during the waiting time tw. Two types of response have been observed: (a) monotonic, where relaxations exhibit aging, i.e., dependence on history, determined by tw and temperature; (b) nonmonotonic, where a memory of th...

Vortex glass transition in a random pinning model.

We study the vortex glass transition in disordered high temperature superconductors using Monte Carlo simulations. We use a random pinning model with strong point-correlated quenched disorder, a net applied magnetic field, long-range vortex interactions, and periodic boundary conditions. From a finite size scaling study of the helicity modulus, the rms current, and the resistivity, we obtain cr...
