چکیده
Abstract Background Insecticidal proteins from the Bacillus thuringiensis ( Bt ) marks genetically modified cotton crop that was commercialized in India March 2002 for control of lepidopteron bollworms. Despite organized initial control, pink bollworm (PBW), Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders), adapted itself to cry toxins resulted field failures 2016 and 2017. The present study designed understand survival development PBW populations differing susceptibility Cry on non-Bt plants. Results For assessment infestation, were collected different growing states. Per cent infestation flowers green bolls areas range 3.09–29.26 36–91.20% bolls, respectively. Among locations highest magnitude resistance Cry1Ac (371.8-fold) Cry2Ab (4214.3-fold) spotted late season Rajkot bolls. Further, order confirm level surviving larvae high low concentrations toxins, pooled subjected boll bioassays. revealed that, none susceptible survived BGII Although, same showed a 38 32%, which led 80% locule damage non- cotton. Maximum (32%) (70%) observed Maharashtra (F-H) Gujarat (B-H) recorded 36% 70% mortality, respectively, 58.33% 60% cotton, Populations derived survivals produced lowest number mines epicarp (2.4 mines/boll) by population NBt Green did not differ mines. Conclusion It concluded

Electromechanical microinjection of pink bollworm Pectinophora gossypiella embryos increases survival.
We report and compare methods and apparatus for injection of pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders), embryos. Injection with an electromechanical device resulted in 59% survival of embryos. Previous techniques relying on a mechanical manipulator resulted in 8% survival. Pink bollworm (PBW) embryo injection technology is based in part on methods developed for injection and genetic tr...
متن کاملControl of resistant pink bollworm (Pectinophora gossypiella) by transgenic cotton that produces Bacillus thuringiensis toxin Cry2Ab.
Crops genetically engineered to produce Bacillus thuringiensis toxins for insect control can reduce use of conventional insecticides, but insect resistance could limit the success of this technology. The first generation of transgenic cotton with B. thuringiensis produces a single toxin, Cry1Ac, that is highly effective against susceptible larvae of pink bollworm (Pectinophora gossypiella), a m...
متن کاملEffects of Resistance to Bt Cotton on Diapause in the Pink Bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella
Fitness costs associated with resistance to Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) crops are expected to delay the evolution of resistance. In a previous study where pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), larvae overwintered in outdoor insectaries, individuals from Bt-resistant strains had lower survival than individuals from Bt-susceptible strains or F1 progeny from crosses b...
متن کاملInactivated mariner-like elements (MLE) in pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella.
We isolated multiple copies of mariner-like element (MLE) from the pink bollworm (PBW), Pectinophora gossypiella, a key lepidopteran cotton pest. Although all the MLE sequences contain multiple mutations accumulated in their transposase coding region, the consensus sequence revealed a putative ancestral transposase encoding 339 amino acid residues with a D,D(34)D motif, and 36 bp inverted termi...
متن کاملField Longevity of a Fluorescent Protein Marker in an Engineered Strain of the Pink Bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders)
The cotton pest, pink bollworm (Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders)), is a significant pest in most cotton-growing areas around the world. In southwestern USA and northern Mexico, pink bollworm is the target of the sterile insect technique (SIT), which relies on the mass-release of sterile pink bollworm adults to over-flood the wild population and thereby reduce it over time. Sterile moths rear...
