Introduction: Pilomatrixomas are benign neoplasms derived from hair follicle matrix cells. They among the most common soft tissue head and neck tumors of childhood. typically isolated, slow-growing, firm, nontender masses that adherent to epidermis but mobile in subcutaneous plane. This clinical presentation is so characteristic many experienced surgeons will excise suspected pilomatrixomas without prior imaging. We reviewed results this approach determine whether physical examination alone differentiates other similar lesions pediatric neck. Methods: Computerized review all over a 20-year period single academic otolaryngology practice. Results: 18 patients presented our practice between 2001 2021 with historical findings consistent pilomatrixoma. Of patients, 7 were male 11 female. Ages ranged 1.5 14 years, mean 7.5 years. Most (12) located face, while rest (6) found All treated complete surgical excision. Pathology confirmed pilomatrixoma 15 patients. The remaining 3 children have an epidermal inclusion cyst, ruptured trichilemmal giant molluscum contagiosum lesion, respectively.
