چکیده

Microalgae have long been used for the commercial production of natural colorants such as carotenoids and chlorophyll. Due to rising demand other products from microalgae, strategies increase efficiency are urgently needed. The microalgal biorefineries has limited countries with moderate climates. For cooler climates less daylight, methodologies efficient need be investigated. Algal strains that can safely consumed whole cells also attractive alternatives developing carotenoid supplements, which contain compounds health benefits. Using helps eliminate hazardous solvents extraction several complicated steps. In this study, mesophilic green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii was employed study effects cold stress on cell physiology pigments storage compounds. results showed temperatures between 10 20 °C induced chlorophyll accumulation in wild-type strain C. reinhardtii. Interestingly, increased level suggested they might play a crucial role acclimation. A temperature 15 resulted highest productivity. At temperature, productivity 2 times 1.3 higher than at 25 °C, respectively. Subjecting mutant defective lutein zeaxanthin revealed these two not essential survival. Therefore, could strategy induce

Monitoring Autophagy in the Model Green Microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii

Autophagy is an intracellular catabolic system that delivers cytoplasmic constituents and organelles in the vacuole. This degradative process is mediated by a group of proteins coded by autophagy-related (ATG) genes that are widely conserved from yeasts to plants and mammals. Homologs of ATG genes have been also identified in algal genomes including the unicellular model green alga Chlamydomona...

Improved photobio-H2 production regulated by artificial miRNA targeting psbA in green microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii

Background Sulfur-deprived cultivation of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, referred as "two-stage culture" transferring the cells from regular algal medium to sulfur-deplete one, has been extensively studied to improve photobio-H2 production in this green microalga. During sulfur-deprivation treatment, the synthesis of a key component of photosystem II complex, D1 protein, was inhibited and improved ...

Artificial miRNA inhibition of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase increases fatty acid production in a green microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii

BACKGROUND Nutrient limitation, such as nitrogen depletion, is the most widely used method for improving microalgae fatty acid production; however, these harsh conditions also inhibit algal growth significantly and even kill cells at all. To avoid these problems, we used artificial microRNA (amiRNA) technology as a useful tool to manipulate metabolic pathways to increase fatty acid contents eff...

Singlet oxygen production in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii under heat stress

In the current study, singlet oxygen formation by lipid peroxidation induced by heat stress (40 °C) was studied in vivo in unicellular green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. Primary and secondary oxidation products of lipid peroxidation, hydroperoxide and malondialdehyde, were generated under heat stress as detected using swallow-tailed perylene derivative fluorescence monitored by confocal lase...

Systemic cold stress adaptation of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii.

Chlamydomonas reinhardtii is one of the most important model organisms nowadays phylogenetically situated between higher plants and animals (Merchant et al. 2007). Stress adaptation of this unicellular model algae is in the focus because of its relevance to biomass and biofuel production. Here, we have studied cold stress adaptation of C. reinhardtii hitherto not described for this algae wherea...
