Piezoresistive Elastomer Composites Used for Pressure Sensing

چکیده
Pressure sensors with capability to detect small physical movements and mechanical deformations have been widely used in wearable medical applications. However, devices that are commercially available currently require complex designs fabrication present only a limited force-range sensitivity. To simplify the design, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU)/ carbon nanotubes (CNTs) composite film has developed using melt extrusion technique followed by compression moulding. were made from these films, whose piezoresistive response analysed as function of concentrations CNTs, around percolation threshold. The changes voltage device applied pressure was continuously measured divider system coupled an electromechanical test machine dynamically loaded under compression. tuned obtain best sensitivity signal/noise (S/N) ratio for each tested. results showed containing target 2.5 wt.% CNTs had market leading repeatability during long-term stability testing high durability underwater indicating such can be promising robust sensitive sensor devices.

Flexible Tactile Sensing Based on Piezoresistive Composites: A Review
The large expansion of the robotic field in the last decades has created a growing interest in the research and development of tactile sensing solutions for robot hand and body integration. Piezoresistive composites are one of the most widely employed materials for this purpose, combining simple and low cost preparation with high flexibility and conformability to surfaces, low power consumption...
متن کاملIonically Bonded Filler-Elastomer Composites*
Tertiary amine-modified corn starches were converted to their basic or hydroxide form and combined with carboxylated butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer and butadiene-styrene-sulfonic acid polymer to produce ionically bonded filler-elastomer composites. An increasing percentage of the elastomer fraction in the starch-elastomer composite is insolubilized as the starch-to-elastomer ratio increases....
متن کاملNanoparticle-Liquid Crystalline Elastomer Composites
Liquid crystalline elastomers (LCEs) exhibit a number of remarkable physical effects, including a uniquely high-stroke reversible mechanical actuation triggered by external stimuli. Fundamentally, all such stimuli affect the degree of liquid crystalline order in the polymer chains cross-linked into an elastic network. Heat and the resulting thermal actuation act by promoting entropic disorder, ...
متن کاملPiezoresistive Cement-based Materials for Strain Sensing
Cement-based materials that exhibit piezoresistivity with sufficient magnitude and reversibility contain electrically conductive fibers. The phenomenon allows the materials to sense their own strain. The fibers are preferably discontinuous. Carbon fibers (15mm diameter) are most effective. Steel fibers (8 mm diameter) are less effective. Carbon filaments (0.1 mm diameter) are ineffective. The p...

This paper presents a preliminary study concerning the use of Front-Side Bulk Micromachining (FSBM) for inertial sensing. When using such a low-cost fabrication approach, the obtained suspended structure do not feature important seismic mass while both CMOS design rules and wet etching do not allow for capacitive detection. Using the standard CMOS polysilicon for piezoresistive detection, obtai...
