Phytoremediation Potential of Ceratophyllum sp. on Arsenic-Contaminated Conditions

چکیده

Purpose: Aquatic contamination with arsenic is a serious problem as people will be at risk of toxicity when using and drinking contaminated water. Phytoremediation possible way to remove from water; however, usually toxic aquatic plants decreases the phytoremediation efficiency. Alleviating plant growth may possible. Thus, increasing capacity decontaminate arsenic-contaminated water, aided by regulators, challenge. this study aimed increase potential Ceratophyllum sp. water regulators were added. Research Method: was cultured in 2.50mg/L for five days. The experiment performed completely randomized design one factor treatments (no regulator, salicylic acid, indole butyric acid + calcium chloride chloride). Then sp., concentration biomass remaining determined end experiment. Findings: use tended fresh dry weight grown conditions, but both formulas regulator did not accumulation Application combination so it 121.9mg/kg, bioconcentration only 39.2. application or removal amount under applications significantly different that without application. Limitation: There no research limitation study. Originality/ Value: Based on results study, had used necessary stimulation removal.

Assessing Plants for Phytoremediation of Arsenic-Contaminated Soils

Arsenic (As) is a pollutant of major concern throughout the world, and causes serious environmental problems in many areas including, for example, West Bengal, Bangladesh, and Vietnam. Phytoremediation is potentially a cost-effective and environmentally benign method of extracting pollutants from soils for which there have been significant recent advances for As. In particular, the discovery of...

Recent advances in phytoremediation of arsenic-contaminated soils

Arsenic contamination in soils occurs widely in a range of ecosystems resulting from geological origins and anthropogenic activities. On average, arsenic concentration ranges from 5 to 10 mg kg−1 in uncontaminated soils and above 10 mg kg−1 in contaminated soils (Hossain, 2006). Increased buildup of arsenic in irrigated soils has been widely recognized in South and South-east Asia (Brammer and ...

Phytoremediation of arsenic-contaminated groundwater by the arsenic hyperaccumulating fern Pteris vittata L.

Arsenic concentrations in a much larger fraction of U.S. groundwater sources will exceed the maximum contaminant limit when the new 10 microg L(-1) EPA standard for drinking water takes effect in 2006. Thus, it is important to develop remediation technologies that can meet this new standard. Phytoremediation of arsenic-contaminated groundwater is a relatively new idea. In this research, an arse...

Phytoremediation of arsenic contaminated paddy soils with Pteris vittata markedly reduces arsenic uptake by rice.

Arsenic (As) accumulation in food crops such as rice is of major concern. To investigate whether phytoremediation can reduce As uptake by rice, the As hyperaccumulator Pteris vittata was grown in five contaminated paddy soils in a pot experiment. Over a 9-month period P. vittata removed 3.5-11.4% of the total soil As, and decreased phosphate-extractable As and soil pore water As by 11-38% and 1...

Arsenic accumulation by two brake ferns growing on an arsenic mine and their potential in phytoremediation.

In an area near an arsenic mine in Hunan Province of south China, soils were often found with elevated arsenic levels. A field survey was conducted to determine arsenic accumulation in 8 Cretan brake ferns (Pteris cretica) and 16 Chinese brake ferns (Pteris vittata) growing on these soils. Three factors were evaluated: arsenic concentration in above ground parts (fronds), arsenic bioaccumulatio...
