Phytochemical Screening of Aqueous, Acetone, Ethanol and Methanol Leaf Extracts of Ocimum teniflorum, Ocimum gratissimum and Ocimum sanctum

The experiment was carried out during November, 2019 to July, 2020 at Department of Food Safety and Quality Assurance, College Science Technology, Pulivendula, ANGRAU, Andhra Pradesh, India. A large number plants show enormous versatility in synthesizing complex materials which have no immediate obvious effect on growth or metabolic functions. Phytochemicals are naturally occurring biologically active components that potential disease inhibiting capabilities. effective combating preventing due their antioxidant effect. most important these phytochemicals alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, saponins phenolic compounds. Ocimum is a well-known medicinal plant consists various biochemically many functional effects. leaf extracts were prepared by using aqueous, acetone, ethanol methanol solvents phytochemical analysis conducted for saponins, phlabotannins, terpenoids, glycosides steroids. results revealed tannins found all the three spp., Saponins present except extract presence phlabotannins observed only aqueous Flavonoids Glycosides steroids Terpinoids O. teniflorum gratissimum.
