Physiological and Yield Responses of Green-Shelled Beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) Grown under Restricted Irrigation

چکیده
Common bean is an important crop, consumed as green-shelled in several countries. In Chile, beans are cultivated often a dry land vulnerable to drought. The objective of this study was characterize the hydric and productive responses four genotypes subjected deficit irrigation order outline production strategies face increasing water scarcity. Two experiments were evaluated: one pot experiment with three treatments, supplying 100% crop evapotranspiration (ETc) (T100), 50% (T50), 30% (T30); open field two treatments: (I100) 40% ETc (I40). Treatments applied during reproductive stage determinate cultivars vegetative indeterminate plants. Severe restriction (T30 I40) both showed significant decrease stomatal conductances, well biomass number grains per pod; I40 treatment also reduction chlorophyll fluorescence. Water use efficiency (WUE) higher under stress (I40), but lower on T30 from experiment. Determinate 22.7% 100-seed weight compared type, and, thus, tolerance Our results indicate that severe highly harmful terms yield, moderate controlled plus may be strategy for producing successfully drought scenario.

Diversification and Population Structure in Common Beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)
Wild accessions of crops and landraces are valuable genetic resources for plant breeding and for conserving alleles and gene combinations in planta. The primary genepool of cultivated common beans includes wild accessions of Phaseolus vulgaris. These are of the same species as the domesticates and therefore are easily crossable with cultivated accessions. Molecular marker assessment of wild bea...

Nutritive Value of Navy Beans (phaseolus Vulgaris).
It has been known since 1920 (Johns & Finks, 1920) that the navy bean is an inferior source of protein for rats. Everson & Heckert (1944) reported that raw navy beans were injurious to rats when given at a 10% protein level. They also reported that autoclaving the beans destroyed the injurious effect. Kakade & Evans (1963a, b) confirmed this report and observed that rats given 10% protein as ra...
متن کاملCalcium Deficiency of Dark-grown Seedlings of Phaseolus vulgaris L.
Hypocotyl collapse in dark-grown seedlings of Phaseolus vulgaris cv. Pinto was due to calcium deficiency. There was no evidence of an associated pathogen. The number of seedlings with hypocotyl collapse decreased and the mean hypocotyl length increased when increasing levels of calcium (0-100 micrograms per gram) were supplied in an external nutrient solution to seedlings grown under sterile co...
متن کاملContrasting responses of seed yield to elevated carbon dioxide under field conditions within Phaseolus vulgaris
The rising concentration of carbon dioxide [CO2] in the atmosphere represents an increase in a growthlimiting resource for C3 crop species. Identification of lines or characteristics of lines which have superior yield at elevated [CO2] could aid in adaptation to this global change. While intraspecific variation in responses to elevated [CO2] has been found in several species, intraspecific diff...
