چکیده
We present a study of the physical characteristics traveling waves at shallow and intermediate water depths. The main subject is to influence nonlinearity on dispersion properties waves, their limiting heights steepness, shape solitary etc. A fully nonlinear Serre–Green–Naghdi-type model, classical weakly Boussinesq model fifth-order Stokes wave solutions were chosen as models for comparison. analysis showed significant, if not critical, differences in effect these models. comparison with experiments was carried out basis results joint Russian–Taiwanese experiment, which 2015 Tainan Hydraulic Laboratory, available experimental data. confirms applicability completely calculating over entire range contrast shows contradictory unrealistic moderate wavelengths.

Shallow Water Waves and Solitary Waves
Glossary Deep water A surface wave is said to be in deep water if its wavelength is much shorter than the local water depth. Internal wave A internal wave travels within the interior of a fluid. The maximum velocity and maximum amplitude occur within the fluid or at an internal boundary (interface). Internal waves depend on the density-stratification of the fluid. Shallow water A surface wave i...
متن کاملRossby waves in ” shallow water ” magnetohydrodynamics
Aims. The influence of a toroidal magnetic field on the dynamics of Rossby waves in a thin layer of ideal conductive fluid on a rotating sphere is studied in the " shallow water " magnetohydrodynamic approximation for the first time. Methods. Dispersion relations for magnetic Rossby waves are derived analytically in Cartesian and spherical coordinates. Results. It is shown that the magnetic fie...
متن کاملVisual simulation of shallow-water waves
A commodity-type graphics card (GPU) is used to simulate nonlinear water waves described by a system of balance laws called the shallow-water system. To solve this hyperbolic system we use explicit high-resolution central-upwind schemes, which are particularly well suited for exploiting the parallel processing power of the GPU. In fact, simulations on the GPU are found to run 15–30 times faster...
متن کاملPeriodic Traveling Water Waves with Isobaric Streamlines
It is shown that in water of finite depth, there are no periodic traveling waves with the property that the pressure in the underlying fluid flow is constant along streamlines. In the case of infinite depth, there is only one such solution, which is due to Gerstner.
متن کاملHOPS Short Course: Traveling Water Waves
In this contribution we discuss Higher Order Perturbation of Surfaces (HOPS) methods with particular application to traveling water waves. The Transformed Field Expansion method (TFE) is discussed as a method for handling the unknown fluid domain. The procedures for computing Stokes waves and Wilton Ripples are compared. The Lyapunov-Schmidt procedure for the Wilton Ripple is presented explicit...
