Physicochemical Characterization of Candlenut (<i>Aleurites moluccana</i>)-derived Biodiesel Purified with Deed Eutectic Solvents

A high-oil candlenut (Aleurites moluccana)-derived biodiesel was purified using new generation solvents called Deep eutectic (DESs) and physicochemical properties of the were assessed according to accepted international standards for (ASTM D6751; EN 14214). Binary ternary choline chloride-based DESs containing glycerol ethylene glycol as hydrogen bond donors synthesized. The results investigation showed that quality DESs-purified generally improved compared with unpurified fulfilled standard limits except carbon residue oxidation stability properties. Choline chloride/ethylene (ChCl/Eg, 1:2 molar ratio) having a DES/biodiesel ratio 1:1 (DES2-11) has enhanced Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) content from 81.89% 98.13%, 2.36 h 3.06 h. 1H NMR examination successful synthesis DESs; GC-MS analysis oil its revealed fatty acid methyl ester compositions, respectively. similarity in FAME compositions between through suggests selective removal impurities efficiency improving candlenut-derived biodiesel.
