Physical, structural, and gamma ray shielding studies on novel (35+x) PbO-5TeO2-20Bi2O3-(20-x) MgO-20B2O3 glasses

The primary aim of this investigation is to synthesize a novel glass system with composition (35+x) PbO-5TeO2-20Bi2O3-(20-x) MgO-20B2O3 (where x=0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 mol%) by melt quenching method. confirmation the amorphous behavior presence various vibration modes stretching have been analyzed using XRD FTIR techniques, respectively. radiation shielding parameters these glasses were reported MCNP5 simulation. effects PbO on investigated in detail. mass attenuation coefficient (MAC) was simulated via code, it found that MAC values from all follow same trend as XCOM data. similarity means two simulations strongly agree each other. linear (LAC) calculated for glasses. sample 55 mol% has greatest LAC at any energy, such 0.317 10 MeV, lowest energy. From values, other transmission factor (TF), lead equivalent thickness (d lead), half-value layer (HVL) reported. results TF revealed systems become more effective their increases. Glass 35 mol % recorded highest energies due its lack content, 15.533% 1 cm 6.122% 1.5-cm 0.3 MeV. protection efficiency (RPE) also determined, we greater content least MgO RPE.
