Physical and chemical characteristics of feedlot pen substrate bedded with woodchip under wet climatic conditions

چکیده
Abstract Wet winter conditions can create animal welfare issues in feedlots if the pen surface becomes a deep, wet, penetrable substrate. Feedlot pens with clay and gravel base ( N = 30) bedded 150 mm (W15) 300 (W30) depth of woodchips were compared to control treatment no bedding over 109-day feeding period, while irrigated supplement natural rainfall. The pad substrate was measured for variables which would affect cattle comfort value composting. higher than both woodchip-bedded treatments from week 2, increased until end experiment. Meanwhile these scores steady W30 throughout experiment, W15 only after 10. Moisture content experiment pens. In pens, force required pull leg analogue out three times that treatments. C : upper limit suitability composting, W30, too high composting period. Overall, providing feedlot or woodchip during period improved condition by reducing moisture stratum, but decreased this duration.

Wet chemical synthesis and physical characterization of doped CeO2 nanoparticles
Solid electrolytes based on doped cerium oxide, Ce(M)O2-δ (M = rare-earth cations), are of considerable interest for potential use in low temperature solid oxide fuel cells (LTSOFCs) due to its higher ionic conductivity than YSZ based solid electrolyte. In this research work, crystalline, pure Ce1-xMxO2-δ (where M = Gd or Sm, x = 0.10 or 0.20) based nanoparticles were prepared by chemical prec...
متن کاملDroplet evaporation characteristics due to wet compression under RCM conditions
The vaporization characteristics of a single fuel droplet subjected to rapid gas-phase compression (i.e., wet compression) are computationally investigated using two spherically-symmetric models: quasisteady (QS) and fully transient (TS). Features of the wet compression process under rapid compression machine (RCM) conditions are discussed with these compared to simulations where the far-field ...

Background and objectives Mining results in degradation of rangelands ecosystem structure and function. Coal mining in rangelands produces significant quantities of waste dumps in mining area which are considered as the main environmental pollutants in the site and surrounding ecosystems. Vegetation restoration in mining area could reduce soil pollution and could be of great help in restoring ...
