Photonic remote microwave frequency measurement with a tunable measurement range based on dispersion compensation technology

In this paper, a novel and efficient photonic-assisted remote frequency measurement (RFM) system with significantly simplified structure flexible operation range is proposed. system, the antenna unit (RAU) central station (CS) are separated to ensure concealment safety of signal processing unit. At RAU, unknown radio (RF) modulated by dual-polarization dual-drive Mach–Zehnder modulator (DPol-DMZM). CS, changing dispersion coefficient or length medium, microwave RFM can be easily tuned without reconstruction, different RAUs located at places controlled work same range. The simulation results show that over high (> 18 GHz) achieved error better than ± 0.2 GHz. Noteworthy, impact non-ideal factors such as bias drift, intensity noise, phase equivalent deviation polarization beam splitter (PBS), value single mode fiber (SMF) also discussed. It has been proved they have little influence on performance
