Photocatalytic degradation of hydroxychloroquine using ZnO supported on clinoptilolite zeolite

Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the photocatalytic activity zinc oxide catalysts supported on natural zeolite clinoptilolite for degradation drug hydroxychloroquine, used in treatment malaria and which has been tested COVID-19. To synthesize 10%ZnOCP 15%ZnOCP catalysts, wet impregnation methodology used. raw synthesized were characterized by XRD, SEM, XRF, BET, DRS, PCZ, FT-IR PL. hydroxychloroquine calculated using UV-vis absorption from samples before after process. maximum percentage (96%) obtained with operational parameters C0 = 10 mg L?1; Ccat 2 g L?1 15%ZnOCP; pH 7.5; UV-A radiation. Ecotoxicological tests against bioindicators Lactuca sativa Artemia salina confirmed reduction effluent toxicity treatment.
