چکیده

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a Gram-negative opportunistic pathogen with great ability to adapt stress, in particular, the selective pressure of antibiotics hospital environment. This constitutes real public health concern, especially low- and middle-income countries. In Cameroon, little known about drug resistance patterns aeruginosa. study sought determine prevalence strains producing carbapenemases six facilities center, littoral, west regions Cameroon. An analytical cross-sectional was conducted over four-month period from July October 2021. All or suspected isolated pathological products at bacteriology laboratory different were systematically collected underwent re-identification. After growing on cetrimide agar successfully subculturing nutrient agar, an oxidase test performed pure colonies, followed by biochemical identification (API 20NE system) bacterial suspension (0.5McFarland standard). Drug susceptibility testing for detection extended-spectrum beta-lactamases overproduced inducible cephalosporinases according adequate standard procedures. Of 468 isolates collected, 347 (74.14%) confirmed after re-identification, which 34.49% (120/347) produced (CAZR C/TS) 32.26% (112/347) beta-lactamases. The carbapenemase-producing P. (IMPR C/TR) 25.07% (87/347), 17.24% (15/87) class A 82.76% (72/87) B. high rate penicillin (piperacillin: 70.58% ticarcillin: 60.24%) observed. We also noted ceftazidime, 30.22% imipenem against 37.02% meropenem, 25.1% ceftolozane/tazobactam (C/T). These exhibited 79.57% quinolones 26% aminoglycoside families. Multivariate analysis revealed that aeruginosa-related infections significantly associated hospitalization (p = 0.04), maternity 0.03), surgery intensive care wards 0.04). highlighted burden resistant Surveillance should be intensified prevent dissemination spread these strains.

Evaluation of Carba NP Method for Rapid Detection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolates Producing Carbapenemase Enzymes

Background and purpose: Recently, increased resistance to carbapenem antibiotics among Pseudomonas aeruginosa has raised concerns. The Carba NP test is used for detection of carbapenemase types. This study aimed at applying Carba NP method for rapid detection of P. aeruginosa isolates producing carbapenemase enzymes. Materials and methods: A total of 97 clinical specimens was collected from pa...

Identification and Characterization of Metallo-β-Lactamases Producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa Clinical Isolates in University Hospital from Zanjan Province, Iran

Background: Infectious by Pseudomonas aeruginosa has spread worldwide and metallo-beta-lactamases (MBL) are being reported with increasing frequency. The aim of this study was to investigate the antibiotic susceptibility and distribution of blaVIM and blaIMP genes in P. aeruginosa isolates from Zanjan Province of Iran. Methods: A total of 70 P. aeruginosa isolates were identified from patients ...

Prevalence of ESBL-producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates in Warsaw, Poland, detected by various phenotypic and genotypic methods

Knowledge of the prevalence of ESBL enzymes among P. aeruginosa strains compared to the Enterobacteraiceae family is limited. The phenotypic tests recommended by EUCAST for the detection of ESBL-producing Enterobacteriaceae are not always suited for P. aeruginosa strains. This is mainly due to the presence of other families of ESBLs in P. aeruginosa isolates more often than in Enterobacteriacea...

Detection of Metallo-β-Lactamases (MBLs) Producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolates in Tehran Hospitals, Iran

Introduction: The strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa are known as an opportunistic pathogen that can cause infections in humans and animals. Metallo-β-lactamases (MBLs) are the most significant factors of resistance to carbapenem antibiotics in these bacteria. This study was designed to identify the MBLs producing P. aeruginosa isolates in three hospitals of Tehran, Iran. Methods: Tota...
