چکیده

Abstract The Sidimpuan snake fruit ( Salacca sumatrana Becc.) tree flowers throughout the year. However, fruits are produced seasonally. level of production is directly related to flowering and set. A low formation results in a number that can be harvested. deeper understanding phenology set may help solve problem off-season production, focus this study. study was conducted village Palopat Maria, subdistrict Padangsidimpuan Hutaimbaru, Indonesia. methodology included surveys descriptive analysis with direct counting inflorescences on each sample plant twice week over three sampling periods (May–August 2016, September–December January–April 2017). showed monoecious hermaphrodite flowers. at base midrib fronds every 1.0–1.5 months. plants had five–six stages, two–three stages were observed. period between appearance new harvest lasted 5–6 highest average flower bunches observed (6.23/tree) lowest May–August (5.33/tree, i.e., 14% less). (4.37/tree), September–December, more than 40% less. Analysis variance indicated significantly affected percentage 85.5% during May–August, 44.0% September–December. leaf nitrogen content different higher January–April. levels phosphorus potassium did not vary difference season.

Biogenesis of volatile methyl esters in snake fruit (Salacca edulis, Reinw) cv. Pondoh.

The methyl esters of carboxylic acids are characteristic olfactory volatile compounds for the sweet aroma of snake fruit, (Salacca edulis, Reinw) cv. Pondoh. Although methanol was not detected as a volatile constituent, the crude enzymes showed activity to synthesize the methyl esters in the presence of acyl-CoA and methanol. Therefore, the biosynthetic origin of methanol was investigated, resu...

Overview of Flower Bud Induction, Flowering and Fruit Set

Flowering is a critical step in fructification. No flowers mean no fruit, and when flower number is low crop load may be limited by the number of flowers formed. In most cases, however, citrus trees form a number of flowers exceedingly higher than the final number of fruits harvested, which usually is a very low percentage of the initial flower number. As in other species which form a large amo...

Flowering and fruit set in olive: a review. Esmaeil Seifi1*, Jenny Guerin2, Brent Kaiser2 and Margaret Sedgley3

Olive is one of the most ancient fruit trees and has been cultivated for its oil for thousands of years. A mature olive tree produces about 500,000 flowers. They are borne on inflorescences termed panicles. The number of flowers and their distribution on the inflorescence are specific for each cultivar but can change from year to year. The flower position on the inflorescence affects its gender...

Seedless Fruit Production by Hormonal Regulation of Fruit Set

Seed and fruit development are intimately related processes controlled by internal signals and environmental cues. The absence of seeds is usually appreciated by consumers and producers because it increases fruit quality and fruit shelf-life. One method to produce seedless fruit is to develop plants able to produce fruits independently from pollination and fertilization of the ovules. The onset...
