Phenol removal from wastewater using eco‐friendly hybrid hydrogels
نویسندگان
چکیده
The intent of this study was to evaluate the ability low-cost polyacrylamide/starch hybrid hydrogels in removing organic pollutants from wastewater, using phenol as a model compound, besides investigating adsorption/desorption behavior function composition. results indicated that hydrogel with lowest amount starch and crosslinking agent exhibited maximum adsorption capacity, 21 mg g−1. isotherm data were described by Langmuir Freundlich models. According linear regression analysis, best fit among models for process. Furthermore, desorption revealed minimum about 60% release, indicating reusability wastewater treatment.

Enzymatic approach to phenol removal from wastewater using peroxidases
Introduction Phenol and its derivatives are present in various industrial effluents and possess a high level of toxicity even at minute concentrations. This could cause serious ecological problems if phenol-containing effluents are discharged untreated or partially treated into water bodies or land sites. Method Conventional wastewater phenol removal methods, which include biological treatment,...

This study aimed to evaluate Moving Bed Biofil...
متن کاملEffect of H2O2 Addition on Phenol Removal from Wastewater Using TiO2/Al2O3 as Photocatalyst
The photocatalytic oxidation of phenol in water in the band reactor with supported TiO2 catalysts was investigated. Modified anatase/Al2O3 catalysts were used as the photocatalysts. The main aim of these studies was to determine catalytic activity of TiO2/Al2O3 and V-TiO2/Al2O3 in the removal of phenol from water. The effectiveness was measured in the configurations: TiO2/UV/O2/H2O2, TiO2/O2/H2...
متن کاملOptimization of peroxidase-catalyzed oxidative coupling process for phenol removal from wastewater using response surface methodology.
Hydroxylated aromatic compounds (HACs) are considered to be primary pollutants in a wide variety of industrial wastewaters. Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is suitable for the removal of these toxic substances. However, development of a mathematical model and optimization of the HRP-based treatment considering the economical issues by novel methods is a necessity. In the present study, optimizatio...
متن کاملReactive nitrogen and phosphorus removal from aquaculture wastewater effluents using polymer hydrogels
We have developed poly(allyl amine hydrochloride) (PAA · HCl) polymer hydrogels, that efficiently remove nitrate (NO3 ), nitrite (NO2 ), and orthophosphate (PO4 ) nutrient anions from the aquaculture wastewater. The hydrogels were prepared by chemically crosslinking linear PAA · HCl chains with epichlorohydrin (EPI). The anion binding capacity of the pH sensitive polymer gels was measured in st...
