Phase-Only Space-Time Adaptive Processing

چکیده

Space-time adaptive processing (STAP) is a well-known and effective method to detect targets, obscured by interference, from airborne radars that works coherently combining signals phased antenna array (spatial domain) with multiple radar pulses (temporal domain). As widely demonstrated, optimum STAP, in the sense of maximizing output signal interference plus noise ratio (SINR), coherent, linear, transversal filter (i.e., tapped delay line), can be synthesized complex-valued weight vector. This paper extends previous work focused on spatial-only nulling, derives phase-only STAP; namely, optimal vector maximizes SINR subject constraint it belongs N-torus complex vectors, where N number spatio-temporal degrees freedom. Because this problem does not admit closed-form solution, solved numerically using conjugate gradient (CGM). The effectiveness STAP demonstrated both values receiving beampattern shape, comparing fully-adapted nonadapted beam former responses as well other possible counterparts. Additionally, several analyses practical utility also demonstrate benefits provided STAP.

Space-Time Adaptive Processing: Fundamentals

In this lecture, we present the principles of space-time adaptive processing (STAP) for radar, applied to moving target indication. We discuss the properties of optimum STAP, as well as problems associated with estimating the adaptive weights not encountered with spatial-only processing (i.e. beamforming).

Radar Space-Time Adaptive Processing

Space-time adaptive processing (STAP) is a signal processing technique that was originally developed for detecting slow-moving targets using airborne radars. The general principle of STAP is as follows. The radar transmits a train of M coherent pulses. The echoes from potential targets (and clutter) are collected at each of the N elements of an antenna array. Separate receiver chains are attach...
