Photonic crystal nanocavity array laser.
We demonstrate a new type of laser composed of an array of coupled photonic crystal nanocavities that enables high differential quantum efficiency and output power, together with a low threshold power comparable to those of single photonic crystal cavity lasers. In our experiment, the laser efficiency increases faster than the lasing threshold with an increase in the number of coupled cavities....
متن کاملPhotonic crystal nanocavity laser in an optically very thick slab.
A photonic crystal (PhC) nanocavity formed in an optically very thick slab can support reasonably high-Q modes for lasing. Experimentally, we demonstrate room-temperature pulsed lasing operation from the PhC dipole mode emitting at 1324 nm, which is fabricated in an InGaAsP slab with thickness (T) of 606 nm. Numerical simulation reveals that when T≥800 nm, over 90% of the laser output power cou...

متن کاملThe effects of nanocavity and photonic crystal in InGaN/GaN nanorod LED arrays
InGaN/GaN nanorod light-emitting diode (LED) arrays were fabricated using nanoimprint and reactive ion etching. The diameters of the nanorods range from 120 to 300 nm. The integral photoluminescence (PL) intensity for 120 nm nanorod LED array is enhanced as 13 times compared to that of the planar one. In angular-resolved PL (ARPL) measurements, there are some strong lobes as resonant regime app...
متن کاملPartial coherence in coupled photonic crystal vertical cavity laser arrays.
A classical, stochastic, coupled-oscillator model for the emergence of partial coherence in arrays of vertical cavity surface emitting lasers is presented. The spectra of the uncoupled lasers determine the second order coherence properties of the coupled system. Predictions of the resultant radiation and interference patterns are verified experimentally.
