Phase development and mechanical response of low-level cement replacements with wood ash and washed wood ash

چکیده
A significant increase is seen worldwide in the amounts of wood ashes (WAs) produced by heating and power industry. This study investigates potential utilisation two different WAs as low-level cement replacements, an untreated a washed version. Phase development mechanical response were investigated. Results indicated ettringite formation mainly to contribute strength until excessive formation. Indications optimum SO3/C3A ratio for mixtures with replacement WA was between 0.4 0.5. Washed originating from grate combustion appeared be most promising tested cement-based materials.

Characteristics of Wood ASH/OPC Concrete
The study presents the behaviour of wood ash / OPC concrete. Chemical analysis of wood ash, bulk density, sieve analysis and specific gravity of wood ash and aggregates, consistency, setting time and slump test of the fresh paste were conducted to determine the suitability of the materials for concrete making. Mix ratio of 1:2:4 and percentage replacement level of 0, 10, 20, 30 and 40 percents ...
متن کاملEngineering Behavior and Characteristics of Wood Ash and Sugarcane Bagasse Ash
Biomasses are organic materials that are derived from any living or recently-living structure. Plenty of biomasses are produced nationwide. Biomasses are mostly combusted and usually discarded or disposed of without treatment as biomass ashes, which include wood and sugarcane bagasse ashes. Thus, recycling or treatment of biomass ashes leads to utilizing the natural materials as an economical a...
متن کاملStrength development in concrete with wood ash blended cement and use of soft computing models to predict strength parameters
In this study, Wood Ash (WA) prepared from the uncontrolled burning of the saw dust is evaluated for its suitability as partial cement replacement in conventional concrete. The saw dust has been acquired from a wood polishing unit. The physical, chemical and mineralogical characteristics of WA is presented and analyzed. The strength parameters (compressive strength, split tensile strength and f...
متن کاملHandling of impregnated waste wood and characterization of ash residues after combustion of the wood
In the next ten years the amounts of waste wood impregnated with Cu, Cr and As (CCA) is expected to increase dramatically world wide. CCA has been widely used for wood preservation since the early 1950s and because the fixation of CCA in the wood is good, the concentration of CCA is still high, when the wood is at the end of service. In some countries e.g. Denmark and Norway, the use of As for ...
متن کاملFaecal-wood biomass co-combustion and ash composition analysis
Fuel blending is a widely used approach in biomass combustion, particularly for feedstocks with low calorific value and high moisture content. In on-site sanitation technologies, fuel blending is proposed as a pre-treatment requirement to reduce moisture levels and improve the physiochemical properties of raw faeces prior to drying. This study investigates the co-combustion performance of wood ...
