Perspectives Relating to Multicultural Training With Speech-Language Pathologists

Purpose: The goal of this project was to assess whether speech-language pathologists (SLPs) feel adequately prepared and comfortable interacting with multicultural clients. To determine an SLP feels interact with, assess, teach, or treat a client, 25-question survey developed administered. Method: included questions pertaining the SLPs' experiences other cultures, both professional personal, if speaks more than one language, has received any formal training on how sent out via e-mail 814 licensed SLPs practicing in preschool, elementary, secondary school settings Mississippi Alabama. A total 38 surveys were returned, 36 complete responses obtained. Results: Preliminary results indicated that many minimal felt work clients based personal experiences; however, they also believed could benefit from additional training. Conclusions: Surveyed do not report receiving adequate for serving Many reported would multiculturalism better serve Further research is effectiveness graduate-level multiculturalism.
