چکیده

Kenaf fiber has been studied for biocomposites reinforcement due to its renewable and carbon neutrality. Meanwhile, polypropylene sheets are easily processed considered a prospective thermoplastic matrix source biocomposites. Hence, the combination of both materials is expected form an attractive biocomposite. This study aimed optimize permanganate treatment on tensile properties water absorption kenaf-reinforced propylene It thermally tested kenaf fibers PP using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) before performing compression molding at 185°C 70 bars film stacking method. The variables were untreated, alkaline pre-treated, alkaline-permanganate treated low concentrations 0.01 0.05 wt% KMnO4. Furthermore, this conducted Yarn test Weibull distribution find strength variability statistically. Composite burn tests performed obtain strength, constituent materials, void volume fractions. Composites fractography was implemented examine effect composite uptake behavior electron microscopy. used concentration in treatments than several previous studies. results showed that have 125 MPa, higher studies found value less 80 MPa. contributed green optimization lower chemical but with better impregnation, interfacial, absorption, mechanical or composites.

Mechanical and Morphological Properties of Kenaf Cellulose/LDPE Biocomposites

The possibility of using cellulose from the cell walls of kenaf, an annual herbaceous crop, for the production of bicomposites was investigated in this study. The composites were prepared using LDPE, as a matrix, the extracted cellulose, as filler and PEG as a plasticizer. The characterization of biocomposites was then performed with optimized thermo-mechanical properties and propensity to envi...

Evaluation of Flexural and Tensile Properties of Short Kenaf Fiber Reinforced Green Composites

The present work study flexural and tensile behavior of short Kenaf fiber reinforced composites. The fibers are chemically treated in 2% NaOH solution at room temperature. Short fibers of 4mm and 8 mm are used in the present work. The composite lamina is prepared by hand molding using isopthalic polyester resin. Flexural test and tension tests are carried out as per ASTM standards. The flexural...

Silane-Treated Basalt Fiber–Reinforced Poly(butylene succinate) Biocomposites: Interfacial Crystallization and Tensile Properties

In this work, an economical modifier silane agent—KH550—was used for surface treatment of basalt fiber. Then, a biodegradable poly(butylene succinate) (PBS)/modified basalt fiber (MBF) biocomposite was successfully developed. The effects of silane treatment and fiber mass content on crystalline structure, isothermal crystallization process and mechanical performance of composites were evaluated...

Properties of Unidirectional Kenaf Fiber–Polyolefin Laminates

The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of kenaf fiber orientation and furnish formulation on the properties of laminated natural fiber–polymer composites (LNPC). The uniaxial fiber orientation provided property enhancement of the LNPC. The randomly oriented kenaf fibers, regardless of fiber contents in the laminates, provided an equal performance compared to the composites ma...
