Performance of finned heat pipe assisted parabolic trough solar collector system under the climatic condition of North East India

The intermittent nature of solar radiation drives the researchers to store energy using latent heat storage (LHS). In this work, an experimental investigation is carried out study performance a pipe assisted parabolic trough collector (PTC) along with paraffin wax based phase change material (PCM). experiment ha sbeen performed under climatic condition North-East India. Further, comparative assessment done between system and without circular fins attached in evaporator section pipe. transfer characteristics during charging/discharging process, temperature distribution, stored LHS are evaluated. maximum average temperatures for PCM estimated be 63 °C 60 fins, respectively. capacity around 330 kJ. charging efficiency fin configuration 44.7% which higher as compared configuration. discharging 32.7%, than presence found reduce pay back period thermal device.
