Performance Analysis of RIS-Aided Systems With Practical Phase Shift and Amplitude Response

Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) have drawn significant attention due to their capability of controlling the radio environment and improving system performance. In this paper, we study performance an RIS-assisted single-input single-output over Rayleigh fading channels. Differently from previous works that assume a constant reflection amplitude, consider model accounts for intertwinement between amplitude phase response, derive closed-form expressions outage probability ergodic capacity. Moreover, obtain simplified under assumption large number reflecting elements provide tight upper lower bounds Finally, analytical results are verified by using Monte Carlo simulations.
