Performance Analysis of 2-Step Random Access With CDMA in Machine-Type Communication

There is a growing interest in the transition from 4-step random access to 2-step machine-type communication (MTC), since well-suited short message delivery various Internet of Things (IoT) applications. In this paper, we study approach that uses code division multiple (CDMA) form channels for data packet transmissions with spreading factor less than number channels. As result, length transmission phase can be shorter at cost multiuser interference. To see how decrease improve spectral efficiency, derive throughput as well efficiency. From results analysis, show CDMA-based have higher efficiency conventional orthogonal channel allocations, which means performance MTC improved by successfully transmitting more packets per unit time using CDMA. This also confirmed simulation results.
