Perfluoroalkylated acids (PFAAs) accumulate in field-exposed snails (Cepaea sp.) and affect their oxidative status

چکیده

Perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) are a group of synthetic persistent chemicals with distinctive properties, such as high thermal and chemical stability, that make them suitable for wide range applications. They have been produced since the 1950s, resulting in global contamination environment wildlife. resistant to biodegradation tendency bio-accumulate organisms bio-magnify food chain. However, little is known about bioaccumulation PFAAs terrestrial invertebrates, including how they affect physiology particularly oxidative status. Therefore, we studied snails were exposed 3 6 weeks along distance gradient radiating from well-known fluorochemical hotspot (3M). In addition, examined potential effects on status these snails. Finally, tested relationships between concentrations those soil nettles feeding influence physicochemical properties relationships. Our results showed higher PFOA and/or PFOS almost every matrix at 3M site, but no concentration gradient. The related soil, affected by multiple properties. For PFOA, observed biota concentrations. Short-chained dominant nettles, whereas long-chained dominant. We found significant positive correlation peroxidase, catalase peroxiredoxins PFAA concentrations, suggesting snails, terms stress (OS) response, possibly susceptible pollution. levels antioxidants grown contaminated sites.

The function of carboxylic acids in freshwater snails and the methods used for their analysis

This review examines the methods used to study carboxylic acids and the results of such studies on certain acids in freshwater snails. The three areas of carboxylic acid interest considered in this review involve their roles as metabolites, phagostimulants, and biomarkers. The chromatographic and non-chromatographic methods used to study the carboxylic acids in the snails are considered herein....

Flavonols accumulate asymmetrically and affect auxin transport in Arabidopsis.

Flavonoids represent a class of secondary metabolites with diverse functions in plants including ultraviolet protection, pathogen defense, and interspecies communication. They are also known as modulators of signaling processes in plant and animal systems and therefore are considered to have beneficial effects as nutraceuticals. The rol1-2 (for repressor of lrx1) mutation of Arabidopsis (Arabid...
