Perceived Intensities of Normal and Shear Skin Stimuli Using a Wearable Haptic Bracelet

چکیده
Our aim is to provide effective interaction with virtual objects, despite the lack of co-location and real-world contacts, while taking advantage relatively large skin area ease mounting on forearm. We performed two human participant studies determine effects haptic feedback in normal shear directions during manipulation using devices worn near wrist. In first study, participants significantly better discriminating stiffness values objects when consisted displacements compared displacements. Participants also commented that they could detect cues much easier than shear, which motivated us perform a second study find point subjective equality (PSE) between stimuli. results show stimuli require larger actuator displacement but less force achieve perceptual for our bracelets. found cannot be equalized through nor forces across all users. Rather, calibration method needed each user where create same intensity user's skin.

educational researchers have provided evidence that teachers’ emotional intelligence has strong effects on various aspects of teaching and learning. yet, in the field of teaching english to speakers of other languages (tesol), inquiry into teachers’ emotional intelligence is nearly limited. given its documented powerful impact on teaching practices and student learning, it is critical to pursue...
15 صفحه اولA wearable haptic game controller
This paper outlines the development of a wearable game controller incorporating vibrotacticle haptic feedback that provides a low cost, versatile and intuitive interface for controlling digital games. The device differs from many traditional haptic feedback implementation in that it combines vibrotactile based haptic feedback with gesture based input, thus becoming a two way conduit between the...

This paper outlines the development and evaluation of a wearable haptic game interface. The device differs from many traditional haptic feedback implementation in that it combines vibrotactile feedback with gesture based input, thus becoming a two way conduit between the user and the virtual environment. The device is intended to challenge what is considered an “interface” and sets out to purpo...
متن کاملTangential versus normal displacement of skin: biomechanics and perceived intensity
We investigated the relative effectiveness of tangential versus normal displacements of skin for eliciting tactile sensations. Subjects adjusted the magnitude of slow tangential and oblique displacements of a cylindrical, flat-ended 1 mm diameter probe glued to the skin in order to match the perceived intensity of a reference displacement that indented the skin normal to the surface. At both th...
