Effect of growth temperature on the long-chain diols and fatty acids of Thermomicrobium roseum.
Long-chain 1,2-diols constitute the hydrophobic backbone of membrane lipids (replacing glycerolipids) in the thermophilic eubacterium Thermomicrobium roseum. The effects of incubation temperature on chain length and chain branching of diols and fatty acids were investigated. The percentage of branched chains decreased, and chain length increased slightly, with increased growth temperatures.

متن کاملComplete Genome Sequence of the Aerobic CO-Oxidizing Thermophile Thermomicrobium roseum
In order to enrich the phylogenetic diversity represented in the available sequenced bacterial genomes and as part of an "Assembling the Tree of Life" project, we determined the genome sequence of Thermomicrobium roseum DSM 5159. T. roseum DSM 5159 is a red-pigmented, rod-shaped, Gram-negative extreme thermophile isolated from a hot spring that possesses both an atypical cell wall composition a...
متن کاملAn extremely thermostable xylanase from the thermophilic eubacterium Thermotoga.
Endo-1,4-beta-xylanase (EC 3.2.1.8) was isolated from the culture supernatant of Thermotoga sp. strain FjSS3-B.1, an extremely thermophilic anaerobic eubacterium which grows optimally at 80 degrees C. Activity was purified 165-fold by anion-exchange and hydroxyapatite chromatography. The enzyme has an Mr of 31,000 as determined by SDS/PAGE and 35,000 by analytical gel filtration. The optima for...
متن کاملGenome sequence of a native-feather degrading extremely thermophilic Eubacterium, Fervidobacterium islandicum AW-1
Fervidobacterium islandicum AW-1 (KCTC 4680) is an extremely thermophilic anaerobe isolated from a hot spring in Indonesia. This bacterium could degrade native chicken feathers completely at 70 °C within 48 h, which is of potential importance on the basis of relevant environmental and agricultural issues in bioremediation and development of eco-friendly bioprocesses for the treatment of native ...
