Peat Stabilization Using Waste Crumb Rubber Tire
نویسندگان
چکیده
Peat is a notoriously problematic soil having high-water content, large void ratio, and weak engineering properties. Thus, it needs to be treated before utilization withstand structural stress. On the other hand, amount of waste tires increases exponentially due high demand for vehicles. Therefore, they need sustainably recovered recycled rather than disposed or incinerated. This study aimed stabilize peat collected from Sungai Bidut, Sibu with crumb (CRT). Different percentages (15%, 20%, 25%) CRT were used determine its effect on strength improvement. The effectiveness was assessed using mechanical testing i.e., unconfined compressive (UCS). optimum also concluded based UCS by comparing untreated peat. Finally, morphological change in depth studied scanning electron microscope (SEM) energy dispersive X-ray (EDX). results revealed that achieved incorporation 15% CRT. highest 99.73 kPa recorded use decreases increasing microstructural tests show becomes more compact humified depth. Moreover, at any mainly composed carbon (C) oxygen (O) small proportion Silicon (Si) indicates less clay particles.

Zinc leaching from tire crumb rubber.
Because tires contain approximately 1-2% zinc by weight, zinc leaching is an environmental concern associated with civil engineering applications of tire crumb rubber. An assessment of zinc leaching data from 14 studies in the published literature indicates that increasing zinc leaching is associated with lower pH and longer leaching times, but the data display a wide range of zinc concentratio...
متن کاملStabilization of Earth Slope by Waste Tire using Experimental Tests and PIV
ABSTRACT The issue of environmental protection has led researchers to pay serious attention to waste tires. Civil engineers have found that waste tires can increase bearing capacity, earth slope stability, and other useful applications in civil engineering. In this paper, a series of experimental modeling have been performed to investigate the effect of waste tires on increasing the stabi...
متن کاملInfluence of Rubber Size on Properties of Crumb Rubber Mortars
Studies on the properties and applications of rubber cement-based materials are well documented. The sizes of rubbers used in these materials varied. However, information about the effects of rubber size on the properties of rubber cement-based materials, especially pore structure, mechanical strengths, and drying shrinkage properties, remains limited. Three groups of rubber with major particle...
متن کاملConcrete with Crumb Rubber from Used Tyres
This study aims to determine the influence of the substitution of a variable volume of aggregates on a concrete by an equivalent quantity of crumb rubber (CR) obtained from used tyres. The physical and mechanical properties of different concretes, which were developed through laboratory tests, have been studied for this goal. The experimental method employed is based on the production of a refe...
متن کاملExperimental Study of Crumb Rubber in Concrete
Crumb rubber is a material produced by shredding and commutating used tires. Waste tire dumping, disposal of these materials or burning these tires cause serious health and environmental problems. On the other side the traffic intensity also increasing day by day and thus bearing capacities also increased the long term goal of the work is to find a means to dispose of the crumb rubber in concre...
