Unusual carbamate-directed CH-activation at an annulated ferrocenophane framework.
The tetrahydroazepine-annulated [3]ferrocenophane carbamate (4) was synthesized by two different linear routes starting from the readily available α-dimethylamino[3]ferrocenophane-ortho-carbaldehyde rac-6. The carbamate directed lithiation of 4 resulted in a selective attack at a (Cp)C-H bond at the higher substituted "lower" [3]ferrocenophane Cp-ring to eventually yield the respective ester (1...
متن کاملActivation of a CH bond in polypyridine systems by acetyl hypofluorite made from F2.
Activation of the relatively inactive polypyridine backbone with strong electrophilic fluorine, originating from acetyl hypofluorite (AcOF) enables attack of the acetoxy moiety at the α position to the heteroatom. Derivatives of bipyridine, phenanthroline and terpyridine systems have been acetoxylated or oxygenated within a few minutes usually in very good yields.
متن کاملA C-F Bond Directed Diels-Alder Reaction.
We demonstrate a C-F bond driven Diels-Alder reaction of a fluorinated dienophile and a borole that shows remarkable diastereoselectivity. The product's structure was confirmed by X-ray crystallography, revealing an unusual conformation featuring a hypercoordinate boron. Calculations suggest that a B···F interaction instigates the reaction chemistry, the magnitude of which is maximized in the t...
متن کاملModular Access to Azepines by Directed Carbonylative C–C Bond Activation of Aminocyclopropanes
A modular Rh-catalyzed entry to azepines is outlined. Under a CO atmosphere, protecting group directed C-C bond activation of aminocyclopropanes provides rhodacyclopentanones. These intermediates are effective for intramolecular C-H metalation of either an N-aryl or N-vinyl unit en route to azepine ring systems. Thus, byproduct-free heterocyclizations are enabled by sequential C-C activation an...
متن کاملAcceleration of nucleophilic CH activation by strongly basic solvents.
(IPI)Ru(II)(OH)(n)(H(2)O)(m), 2, where IPI is the NNN-pincer ligand, 2,6-diimidizoylpyridine, is shown to catalyze H/D exchange between hydrocarbons and strongly basic solvents at higher rates than in the case of the solvent alone. Significantly, catalysis by 2 is accelerated rather than inhibited by increasing solvent basicity. The evidence is consistent with the reaction proceeding by base mo...
