Pattern of Referral of Sick Pilgrims from Omani Medical Mission During Hajj 2019 (1440 H)

Background: Annually, in the month of Dhul hijjah, over 2 million Muslims travel to Saudi Arabia perform Hajj. Hajj is biggest mass gathering globally, which creates a significant influence on Hajjes' health. The Omani medical mission official delegation from government serve hajjees regarding their health Sduring 1440 H. Methods: We conducted cross-sectional study at Medical missions Makkah, Madinah, Mina, and Arafat. Data was collected via predesigned form. All pilgrims presenting who were referred local hospitals included. Results: total number cases 5000, 106 (2.1%) (21.2 per 1000 hajjees). most common causes referral cardiovascular diseases (23.6%), followed by gastrointestinal disease (17.9%) trauma (16.9%). Males comprised 60.1%. Their mean age 47.3 years (SD ±11.27), with highest referrals 51-60 group (30%). Over half (55.7%) had co-morbidities. Patients' time reach clinic 8.87 min ±6.41), 65% arriving 5 or less. needed hospital ambulance 11.39 ±6.6), 36% within min. Of referrals, 42% admitted into hospital. Hospitalization significantly higher among patients chest pain (P-value < 0.0057), diabetics 0.0001), Heart Disease = 0.013). Conclusions: for Hajjees Mission diseases, disease, trauma. This information should assist planning services hajj season future years.
