Pathogenetic characteristics of infectious diarrhea in Yantai City, Shandong Province, 2018–2019

Background Analysis of the pathogenic spectrum, epidemiological characteristics and molecular features important pathogens infectious diarrhea in Yantai City, Shandong Province, 2018–2019, were analyzed to provide a reference basis for prevention control diarrhea. Methods A total 1514 stool specimens collected within 3 days onset secondary or higher hospitals from all tested presence seven major viruses three bacteria by employing reverse transcription ploymeraer chain reaction (RT-PCR). Population seasonal analyses also performed on positive samples The top two ranked rotavirus norovirus focused genotyping analysis geographical distribution. Results study showed that high prevalence Yantai, consecutive years 2018 2019 was young children aged 1–5 years, accounting 48.6% number cases. Viral distributed throughout year with no obvious distribution, while bacterial predominant summer. Of specimens, rate 43.92% (665/1514). One pathogen detected 507 107 44 mixed infections 22.71% (151/665). diarrheal accounted 93.23% (620/665) samples. percentages Rotavirus (RV), Norovirus GI, GII, Enterovirus universal (EV), Enteroadenovirus (EAdV), Sapovirus (SaV), Astrovirus (Astv), Salmonella (SE), Listeria monocytogenes (LiMo), Vibrio parahaemolyticus (VP) 48.57%, 3.61%, 15.34%, 10.68% Conclusions This detail composition alternation pattern, distribution population improving relevant local preventive measures reducing disease burden.
