چکیده
Abstract Background Malignant ureteral obstruction caused by extrinsic compression of a primary malignant tumour or metastatic disease is an indicator poor prognosis with median life expectancy about one year. We examined clinical outcomes following Resonance Metallic Ureteral Stent (Cook Medical, Bloomington, IN) placement in patients obstruction. Methods This was prospective study who underwent from April 2016 to March 2021. registered 21 (27 collecting systems) and observed them prospectively. The first polymer stent followed replacement metallic month later. Primary outcome the patency period based on both serum creatinine level hydronephrosis; secondary were factors affecting stent-related complications such as symptoms (flank pain), bladder irritation, haematuria, urinary tract infection (presence absence fever). Results comprised (six men, 15 women) mean age 72 years. days not available (NA) (95% CI 210–NA) due inability extract this value Kaplan–Meier curve because event rate did reach 50%, one-year 59.2% 23.2–82.9). A normal (0.65 1.07 mg/dL for men 0.46 0.79 week after significant factor long-term period. There no major complications. Conclusion effective safe may predict longer stents

Predicting Factors for Stent Failure-Free Survival in Patients With a Malignant Ureteral Obstruction Managed With Ureteral Stents
PURPOSE To determine predictive factors for stent failure-free survival in patients treated with a retrograde ureteral stent for a malignant ureteral obstruction. MATERIALS AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed 71 patients who underwent insertion of a cystoscopic ureteral stent due to a malignant ureteral obstruction between May 2004 and June 2011. Performance status, type of cancer, hydron...

A variety of pelvic, retroperitoneal or metastatic malignancies may cause ureteral obstruction either by direct invasion or external compression of the ureter. Ureteral obstruction is a cause of significant morbidity and mortality in cancer patients these patients may suffer from acute or chronic pain, acute renal failure or subacute impairment of renal function, and they are at risk for infect...
متن کاملOutcomes of metallic stents for malignant ureteral obstruction.
PURPOSE Malignant ureteral obstruction often necessitates chronic urinary diversion and is associated with high rates of failure with traditional ureteral stents. We evaluated the outcomes of a metallic stent placed for malignant ureteral obstruction and determined the impact of risk factors previously associated with increased failure rates of traditional stents. MATERIALS AND METHODS Patien...
متن کاملMalignant Ureteral Obstruction: Functional Duration of Metallic versus Polymeric Ureteral Stents
BACKGROUND Ureteral obstruction caused by extrinsic compression is often associated with intra-abdominal cancers. Internal drainage with ureteral stents is typically the first-line therapy to relieve such obstructions. Novel designs of ureteral stents made of different materials have been invented to achieve better drainage. In this study, we described the functional outcomes of a Resonance met...
متن کاملRenin-angiotensin system and unilateral ureteral obstruction
Unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) is a clinical scenario that leads to obstructive nephropathy. UUO alters the expression of many mediators in the ipsilateral kidney. Renin-angiotensin system (RAS) is involved in UUO. Angiotensin II (Ang II) and angiotensin 1-7 (Ang 1-7) as the main arms of RAS influence kidney function which may alter by UUO. Ang II via Ang II receptor subtypes I (AT1R) ...
