Partnership for Sustainable Coffee Certification: Linking Up Smallholder Farmers to Global Coffee Market

This study examines the impacts of partnerships for sustainability certifications in coffee value chains on farm income Lampung Province, Sumatra-Indonesia. We conducted farm-household surveys, interviewing 171 samples West and Tanggamus Districts, consisting 98 farmers joining partnership 73 not joining. A probit model is used to determine decisions join partnership; ordinary least square (OLS) analyze determinants income; Heckman selection-correction reduce selection bias participation. find some certifications, driven by age education household head, land holding size proximity rural cooperatives-KUBE. The earn higher than those joining, due a proportion productive family members. After employing treatment-effect model, we that raises income, mostly yield farm-gate prices. These results reveal need policies support establishment encouragement certifications. internal control system (ICS) initiated corporations implementing have improved trust level between smallholders global corporations.
