Partially Autonomous Belief

چکیده
Abstract Adam Carter (2022) recently proposed that a successful analysis of knowledge needs to include an autonomy condition. Autonomy, for Carter, requires lack compulsion history. A history bypasses one’s cognitive competences and results in belief is difficult shed. I argue Carter’s condition does not cover partially autonomous beliefs properly. Some belief-forming processes are bypassing competences, but them completely. provide case based on processing fluency effects only amount some cases. finally suggest how adjust the capture

Partially Specified Belief Functions
This paper presents a procedure to determine a complete belief function from the known values of belief for some of the subsets of the frame of discerment. The method is based on the principle of minimum commitment and a new principle called the focusing principle. This additional principle is based on the idea that belief is specified for the most relevant sets: the focal elements. The resulti...
متن کاملCombining partially independent belief functions
The theory of belief functions manages uncertainty and also proposes a set of combination rules to aggregate opinions of several sources. Some combination rules mix evidential information where sources are independent; other rules are suited to combine evidential information held by dependent sources. In this paper we have two main contributions: First we suggest a method to quantify sources’ d...
متن کاملDecision Making with Partially Consonant Belief Functions
This paper studies decision making for Wal ley's partially consonant belief functions (pcb ) . In a pcb, the set of foci are par titioned. Within each partition, foci are nested. The pcb class includes probability and possibility functions as extreme cases. We adopt an axiomatic system, similar in spirit to von Neumann and Morgenstern's ax ioms for preferences leading to the linear util ity...
متن کاملAutonomous Rover Navigation in Partially Known Terrain
This paper describes the work done in autonomous operation of mobile robot at the Canadian Space Agency. The Mobile Robotic Test bed (MRT) components are presented. The autonomy software, implemented using a behaviour-based approach, is presented. The peripheral sub-systems used by the reactive engine, such as vision and path planner are also described.
