Partial replacement of Portland cement with industrial glass waste in mortars

Abstract The necessity to reduce the consumption of cement in cementitious composites is a worldwide concern and partial replacement with industrial waste has gathered considerable interest. One type glass, which rich amorphous silica but can present problems its use due alkali-silica reaction (ASR). objective this study was analyze compressive strengths mortars using ground glass residue (GLR). Milling times 16 h 32 were conducted GLR tested substitutions 10 w.t.%, 15 w.t.% 20 w.t.%. A statistical analysis performed verify factors affected mortar strength. mitigating effect ASR also tested. Results showed that milling time did not affect resistance significantly substitution did. proved provide best result as it statistically equal standard mixture.
